French "SOLAR COOKER"

Potatoes cooked with SOLAR ENERGY !

In Jourgnac, with the oldest children (8 to 11 years old), we decided to build a solar oven.

MATERIALS:

5 planks of wood,
1 pane of glass,
aluminium,
cork.

TOOLS

1 screwing machine and screws,
1 drill,
1 cutter, 1 ruler,
1 pencil.

PROCESS

Cut the 5 planks of wood,
Make holes with a drill for wood,
Assemble the 5 planks with screws,
Cut the cork as heat insulation,
Fix the aluminium to reflect sun's rays,
Close with a glass to realize a greenhouse-effect.

RESULT

On 24th of May we tested !
From 9h00 in the morning to 3h00 in the afternoon, the water's temperature grew to 81 °C. It was enough to cook our potatoes !
